Woo hoo! You made it past the pessimists, integrated ideas from friends, and strengthened your idea. Nice job! Onward!
No one has ever accomplished a change in their community or the world on their own. To accomplish tasks that seek to make things better you are going to need a team. So, Step 3 asks you to find 2-4 friends to join you in putting your idea into action. (Yes, you can have more than 5 people. But try to keep it small. Having too many people can be messy in the early stages of any project.)
You may have ideas for friends or family members who would want to join you based on their reactions when you were telling them about the project. So ask your friends first.
If you are having trouble getting people to be a part of your team, try reaching out to new people in your community via the following ways:
- Post a recruitment notice on Facebook and ask your friends to share it.
- Put up a flyer around town (on telephone poles, on windows of stores that give permission, on cars, etc.).
- Ask friends and family who they know who might be interested in doing a project like this. Then, follow up.
Here is a sample ad for a flyer or Facebook campaign.
RECRUITING 4 PEOPLE TO HELP LIFE CHANGE FOR THE BETTER.
I am participating in A Big Project, which is supporting people around the globe as they start projects that improve life for everyone. I want to start a project in <<enter your city>> that <<enter one or two sentences about your project here>>. I’m looking for 4 other people to join me in helping to make this project idea a reality. You don’t have to have experience or expertise in this area. I just ask that you like the idea of making our community and our world a little better. If you are interested or want to learn more, contact me at:<<enter your contact info>>.
*Note: For Facebook posts, add a photo that represents the idea, or a photo of yourself if you can't find a perfect image. People respond more to posts with nice images on them.
Once you have 3-5 people (including you) who are interested in doing the project, move to STEP 4!
