This project is building on the momentum for change by uniting people all over the world around four questions to explore a global vision for a new way forward. We will then use art and music to share that vision with the world.

How can I participate?

A:

If you are interested in making BIG art or music for this project sign up by clicking here. Make sure to tell us what type of project you would like to create or host.  If you don't know, that's OK too! Just let us know you are planning something, and we'll stay in touch.

What kind of art or music are you looking for?

A:

People are creating BIG art or music (however they define “Big”) that shares their vision for what a better world would actually look, feel, sound, be like… something that will inspire others to open up their minds and hearts as to what is truly possible.

When do I need to start making art? Are there any deadlines?

A:

There are two ways to submit your artistic project. The first is to create your project now, document it (through video, mp3, photographs, etc.) and send to us as soon as it’s ready.

The second way is to set up a live event on December 20th and to record it using livestream video (which you can do on any mobile smart phone).

It would be ideal to submit it both ways!  Send us your art or music that you’ve recorded now, and then on December 20th set up an event at a local venue or your living room and record the event on your mobile phone to share with the world!

(We also acknowledge that art making is never a closed process, and a renaissance does not happen in just one day.  We therefore encourage people to continue making art and music well beyond December 20th. )

How do you define "BIG" when you refer to BIG art and music?

A:

You can define "BIG" however you wish.  It could mean the physical size of the project, the number of people collaborating, or the big idea which you are trying to convey to the world. We leave up to you! Our main goal is to use BIG art and music to get people stop their daily routines and take notice of the art and music occuring around the world in ways that reach their hearts.

Are there any resources available for my project?

A:

ABP is not able to provide any funds to participating artists at this time.  However we do encourage artists to apply for grants. We hope that by indicating that you are involved in this project you will have greater access to funding streams that encourage artists to engage with their communities and people around the world. We are currently working on creating a list of potential grantmaking groups which provide support to artists and musicians.

Can I submit art or music that I've already created?

A:

Yes. We will be collecting art and music pieces which have been already been created which speak to the goals of the project.  If you have an art or music piece that you think would be appropriate for this project, please send to sweetspotart@UNAFP.org before December 15th.

How will the art and music be presented on December 20th?

A:

The art and music will be exhibited on December 20th at a number of exhibitions in all regions, as well as through an internet live-stream video that will go out to over a half million people in 97 countries.  In addition, art will be featured on tv, radio and other media going out to millions of people around the world. If you would like to host an exhibition in your area please sign up by clicking here or send an e-mail to simacunningham@gmail.com.

I have an project/organization already that I think is perfect for “A Big Project”, how can I connect them?

A:

ABP/AFP is happy to bring existing projects and organizations in to partner with us. This is a collaborative project and frankly, the “Bigger” the better. We are aiming to create a network and increase the exposure and accessibility of all like-minded projects and organizations. Please let us know if you have suggestions for other art projects by sending an email to BIGsweetspotart@UNAFP.org and letting us know what the project is, and -if you know it- the contact person who is leading the project.
